Natalie Kalen is the Board Liaison for the Severed Floor of Lumon Industries.
History[]
Natalie appeared on television, debating Steven, who opposed the Severance Procedure.
Later, Natalie acted in her capacity as Board Liaison to relay messages between the Board and Cobel. Cobel explained that prior to Peter Kilmer leaving his job at Lumon, he showed signs of possible reintegration. The Board insisted that severance was irreversible and then told Cobel to push MDR to get their quarterly numbers, which Cobel said they would. Natalie told her the Board had ended the call and left.[2]
When Natalie learned from the Board that Graner had died, she found Cobel and relayed the news. Cobel said whoever killed him probably also reintegrated Petey. When Natalie said the Board didn't acknowledge reintegration, Cobel offered to share the proof with them in person. Natalie said the Board agreed to meet with her at the Eagen Family Gala the following week to discuss it.[3]
Natalie came to Cobel's office on behalf of the board to confront her about not informing the Board about Helly's suicide attempt. Cobel said that she would explain everything to the Board that night, but Natalie told her that she was fired.[4]
At the gala, Natalie made sure Helena was prepared for her speech. She was unaware that they had activated the Overtime Contingency and Helena was actually Helly, her innie. When the time came, Natalie talked to Helly backstage, reminding her to stick to her talking points. However, Helly used the time to say that she was an innie and was being tortured and held prisoner by Lumon.[5]
Natalie was immediately tasked with communicating with the media to dispute the claims Helly's innie self had made about innies being tortured. When they managed to persuade Mark to return to work, Natalie asked who else they were bringing in. Milchick said he had a floater from overseas and two people who were laid off from 5X. They didn't need him to get along with him. They just needed him to stay long enough to finish Cold Harbor.[6]
Natalie brought Milchick a gift from the board to celebrate his promotion. It was the Kier series with Kier re-imagined as a Black man. Natalie received the same gift from the board when she got her current position. Milchick said he was grateful and the board ended the call.
Natalie later went to see Ricken Hale to tell him the impact his book had on their innies. She talked to him about making a version specifically for innies with verbiage they particularly reacted to. He was enthusiastic about this and eager to do it. When Devon Scout-Hale came home, Natalie told her her brother is one of the sweetest members of the severed team.[7]
After Helena was nearly downed at the ORTBO by Irving, who had figured out she was not really Helly, Natalie and Mr. Drummond met with Helena. They told her that Mark was 81% done with Cold Harbor and that since Mark wouldn't work without Helly, she had to return, not at herself, but as her innie. Helena tried to refuse, but they made it clear it wasn't optional and Natalie told her the Board thanked her for her sacrifice.
Natalie then came to get Milchick for his first performance review as department chief. He told her he was excited and then asked her about her feeling when she received the paintings of Kier as he had, because he felt they might have had similar experiences. Instead of answering, Natalie just said that Mr. Drummond was waiting. She sat to the side and listened as Mr. Drummond reviewed the positives and negatives about Milchick's work.[1]
